Mercredi 1 – PMI France – The Next Chasm…The Science of Agile

The next chasm to cross in the question for effective product and service development. Frameworks dominate the current efforts for organizations to become more Agile. Frameworks provide ready solutions that offer immediate improvement for many. But overall success is often elusive. The reason is that no one set of practices works everywhere but frameworks are designed around practices.

Livre sur Amazon

Disciplined Agile and FLEX take a different approach. While we recognize the need for starting with a specific set of practices, we believe these must be tailored for the organization about to adopt them. FLEX uses theories of Flow, Lean and Theory of Constraints to provide an assessment of where an organization is diverging from effective practices. Disciplined Agile’s “Choose your way of working” provides potential solutions to help close these gaps. This webinar presents both how and why such an assessment can be made and how it can be used to create a backlog for improving an organization.

Livre sur Amazon

Recently Peter Taylor (and Susie Palmer-Trew) published a book with the provocative title « Project Management: It’s All Bollocks! » In our session we will all pick over the sadly inadequate body of knowledge that is project management today, and generally challenge just about everything, eliminating that which you don’t need to bother to learn about, or should already know, leaving you only with the parts that will give you the results you want. Here we offer up a selection of 7 cracking ideas, that when applied to a project environment will ultimately result in you being a good manager of projects in this modern world of business complexity.

Jeudi 2 – APMG – Servant Leadership for Project Managers

Mercredi 22 – PMI France – The Project Economy and Why Projects are the Future

We are witnessing the rise of projects as the main unit of work, as well as the essential model to deliver change and create value for individuals, organizations, and society at large. Welcome to the Project Economy! Yet, despite this surge in project activities and project spending, the risk of project failure continues to be huge and will continue to increase unless organizations and governments embrace advanced project leadership practices. In addition, project management will not escape the disruptions that other industries are experiencing. Recently Gartner claimed that 80 % of today’s Project Management tasks will be eliminated by 2030 as Artificial Intelligence takes over. Which we should see as a call for action to redefine the future of our profession. If we act now, there is a good chance that project management becomes one of the most sought after skills by organizations in the new world.

Mercredi 22 – PMI UK –Project data analytics does not happen by accident

Some people have the opinion that flashy AI and analytics tools are the essential ingredient to enable Project Data Analytics as a discipline to deliver value to our wider stakeholders. Using examples from major investment programmes Julian Schwarzenbach has been involved in, he will try and redress the balance of priorities for Project Data Analytics to increase understanding of the importance of data in the overall approach.

Mercredi 22 – PMI – Waterfall or Agile? A Project Hybridization Journey

Project Management is as of today, divided into two exclusive paradigms: Waterfall and Agile. According to companies culture and standards, the choice uses to be done once and for all, shaping the company Strategy deployment. However the trend we observed these past years is an interest, by companies doing Waterfall, into Agile Methodologies – and vice&versa. This trend is also seen in the PMBOK 6.0. Each methodologies provides advantages anf flaws which surprisingly are complementaray between Waterfall and Agile. Mixed-Approaches, as observed in domains like science as an example, always provide the best results. Taylored in the right way, Project Hybridization appears to be the win-win candidate.

Jeudi 23 – PMI UK – Building Global Project Teams in Times of No Travel – The COVID Caveat

If there is one group ahead of the curve where it comes to virtual work, it is project managers. But COVID put that into an entirely new spotlight, as even the initial kickoff meetings are being held virtually. Team alignment and relationships established early on in projects may lack a strong foundation when they are entirely established via web cams and Zoom meetings. Now add in the element of cultural differences. Video conference team meetings reduce the ability to easily observe team members (do you have buy in, is a team member shying away from speaking in the meeting, is a team member agreeing in principle but not recording actions into their notes and validating understanding of expectations). When team bonds have not been as forged as strongly, your antenna needs to be elevated to the next level to pick up warning signals, especially as business priorities may be changing due to COVID.

With an increasing number of projects managed internationally there are numerous opportunities to collaborate, perform and build new relationships. Mercredi 18 – Webinar – PMI – Virtual Teams – Real Problems – Possible Solutions

If you work in a large organization, then chances are better than good that you work on at least one ‘virtual team,’ possibly more. If you’re like most people, you find this ‘difficult,’ if not almost impossible from time to time. The obstacles to performance are many; they include time zone differences, matrix management, the blurring of the work/life boundary, and cultural differences that are totally hidden until you’re ensnared in some conflict that no one really understands. Welcome to the modern world.

Jeudi 19 – Webinar -Agile Alliance – Suddenly Distributed: Effective Agility in the Age of Coronavirus

As companies around the world, including Apple, Google, Twitter, and Amazon, instruct their employees to work remotely in light of the spread of coronavirus, Agile teams are having to quickly change their routines to maintain productivity. Core team activities ranging from maintaining a Kanban board to facilitating standups to running effective retrospectives must be restructured to meet the needs of a remote team.

To help you identify resources and navigate the challenges facing your suddenly distributed team, we’ve gathered a panel of experts to share their thoughts on the current work environment for a virtual roundtable.

You’ll leave the webinar with tips for managing your suddenly distributed team, tools and ideas for giving “them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done,” and other ideas for maintaining productivity through the disruption.

Jeudi 19 – Webinar – PMI – Social Intelligence for Project Managers

Getting a team working well together can be like herding cats – just when you think you’ve got them all going the same direction, another one wanders off. Social intelligence (a kind of sideways look at emotional intelligence) can help us herd those cats effectively, keeping the project as well as the team together. It gives us some clues to understanding and managing the connections between people, most particularly those we work with on a regular basis.

Jeudi 19 – Basel – PMI Switzerland – Learning to unlearn: giving up control to get better results in projects

Postponed due to the epidemy.

Seeing the future more clearly may mean letting go of the past.  A shift to the new ways of working requires both learning and unlearning.  Sometimes what we already know, think or do is what gets in the way.  This presentation is about letting go without losing control to embark on adventure and to unlock new potential. While working in corporate world and recently volunteering with NGOs, Kasha understood that unlearning old habits has not been easy and requires being brave, taking calculated risks, often failing, unlearning, failing again and learning.

Vendredi 20 – Webinar – PMI UK – Stakeholder Engagement for Infrastructure Projects

Stakeholder Engagement (not management) is one of the factors considered to be critical for project success, yet it is under-represented in the bodies of knowledge and other “best practice” standards and methodologies. As one of the “soft skills” it is often left to be implemented at the discretion of the Project Manager and their team, and therefore is under-resourced. It is often responsive, rather than pro-active. Based upon current research and recent case studies, this webinar will provide an overview of the International Association for Public Participation spectrum (IAP2) and discuss when each element of the spectrum could and should be applied.

Mardi 24 – Webinar – PMI – What Is (And Isn’t) Product Management?

Product Management is one of the most exciting—and most misunderstood—functions in technical organizations. Is it strategic or tactical? Is it a planning role or a support role? Many product professionals are unclear about what is (and isn’t) product management. After all, product management spans many activities from business planning to market readiness. Steve Johnson explores the many roles of Product Management in this fun talk focused on why product managers should obsess on problems instead of solutions.

Mercredi 25 – London – PMI UK – Unlocking Business Agility with Lean-Agile Portfolio Management

livre sur Amazon

The Lean-Agile Portfolio Management is a new approach to the governance and operation of portfolios that has recently been seeing a strong surge in popularity as a result of the growing penetration of the agile ways of working across companies and industries. If the focus until a couple of years ago was mainly on IT development, today we are witnessing an increasingly larger number of clients wanting to extend agility beyond the usual boundaries of system development to embrace a more holistic management of programmes and multi-department initiatives. This talk draws on actual experiences and implementations at Accenture and will provide insights on how companies can equip themselves with efficient ways to guarantee a congruent level of Strategy Deployment, Funding and Governance, and ultimately let the agility permeates all the layers of the organisation.

Mercredi 25 – Webinar – PMI – Managing Emerging Technology Initiatives

The pace of technological change is taking place at an exponential rate and continues to accelerate. Organizations have few if any options – these days, that has made adapting to emerging technology a strategic business initiative which supports the estimate of the trillions of dollars + overall cost of digital transformation in the next few years. All of this has an increasing percentage of the C-suite becoming concerned that failed initiatives will likely have a negative effect on their reputation and on the bottom line. With so much at stake for an increasing percentage of organizations (large, medium and small), it is easy to see why there will be increased attention on program and project managers’ delivery of strategic transformational initiatives.
