Mercredi 1 – PMI France – The Next Chasm…The Science of Agile

The next chasm to cross in the question for effective product and service development. Frameworks dominate the current efforts for organizations to become more Agile. Frameworks provide ready solutions that offer immediate improvement for many. But overall success is often elusive. The reason is that no one set of practices works everywhere but frameworks are designed around practices.

Disciplined Agile and FLEX take a different approach. While we recognize the need for starting with a specific set of practices, we believe these must be tailored for the organization about to adopt them. FLEX uses theories of Flow, Lean and Theory of Constraints to provide an assessment of where an organization is diverging from effective practices. Disciplined Agile’s “Choose your way of working” provides potential solutions to help close these gaps. This webinar presents both how and why such an assessment can be made and how it can be used to create a backlog for improving an organization.

Livre sur Amazon

Recently Peter Taylor (and Susie Palmer-Trew) published a book with the provocative title « Project Management: It’s All Bollocks! » In our session we will all pick over the sadly inadequate body of knowledge that is project management today, and generally challenge just about everything, eliminating that which you don’t need to bother to learn about, or should already know, leaving you only with the parts that will give you the results you want. Here we offer up a selection of 7 cracking ideas, that when applied to a project environment will ultimately result in you being a good manager of projects in this modern world of business complexity.

Jeudi 2 – APMG – Servant Leadership for Project Managers

Mercredi 22 – PMI France – The Project Economy and Why Projects are the Future

We are witnessing the rise of projects as the main unit of work, as well as the essential model to deliver change and create value for individuals, organizations, and society at large. Welcome to the Project Economy! Yet, despite this surge in project activities and project spending, the risk of project failure continues to be huge and will continue to increase unless organizations and governments embrace advanced project leadership practices. In addition, project management will not escape the disruptions that other industries are experiencing. Recently Gartner claimed that 80 % of today’s Project Management tasks will be eliminated by 2030 as Artificial Intelligence takes over. Which we should see as a call for action to redefine the future of our profession. If we act now, there is a good chance that project management becomes one of the most sought after skills by organizations in the new world.

Mercredi 22 – PMI UK –Project data analytics does not happen by accident

Some people have the opinion that flashy AI and analytics tools are the essential ingredient to enable Project Data Analytics as a discipline to deliver value to our wider stakeholders. Mercredi 22 – PMI – Waterfall or Agile? A Project Hybridization Journey

Project Management is as of today, divided into two exclusive paradigms: Waterfall and Agile. According to companies culture and standards, the choice uses to be done once and for all, shaping the company Strategy deployment. However the trend we observed these past years is an interest, by companies doing Waterfall, into Agile Methodologies – and vice&versa. This trend is also seen in the PMBOK 6.0. Each methodologies provides advantages anf flaws which surprisingly are complementaray between Waterfall and Agile. Mixed-Approaches, as observed in domains like science as an example, always provide the best results. Taylored in the right way, Project Hybridization appears to be the win-win candidate.

Jeudi 23 – PMI UK – Building Global Project Teams in Times of No Travel – The COVID Caveat

If there is one group ahead of the curve where it comes to virtual work, it is project managers. But COVID put that into an entirely new spotlight, as even the initial kickoff meetings are being held virtually. Team alignment and relationships established early on in projects may lack a strong foundation when they are entirely established via web cams and Zoom meetings. Now add in the element of cultural differences. Video conference team meetings reduce the ability to easily observe team members (do you have buy in, is a team member shying away from speaking in the meeting, is a team member agreeing in principle but not recording actions into their notes and validating understanding of expectations). When team bonds have not been as forged as strongly, your antenna needs to be elevated to the next level to pick up warning signals, especially as business priorities may be changing due to COVID.

With an increasing number of projects managed internationally there are numerous opportunities to collaborate, perform and build new relationships. But – with each new opportunity comes hidden pitfalls around culture, ways of working and communication, not to mention language barriers. Only when project managers learn to appreciate and understand subtle cultural differences are they able to work, communicate and collaborate more effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners in multicultural settings.
